Does the pharmacy automatically call my doctor when I use my last refill, and if so, how much extra time should I allow if my doctor must be contacted?

The pharmacy will call your physician if you would like us to. Some physicians will not accept “automatic” refill requests because they are deluged with refill requests and would like to wait until you are in need of medication. Therefore, it is mostly dependent upon your physician’s office policy about automatically requesting your refills ahead of time. Also, it may take up to 72 hours (3 days) to obtain refill authorizations from many physician offices. Please plan ahead.
